Sturgis Trip
August 5th - 10th, 2004

I pretty much saw the things I wanted to see but my trip was less enjoyable that I would have preferred. My roommate preferred to ride alone and therefore I did too. So, I decided to leave a few days early and do an Iron Butt home. By far, the best part of the trip for me was Devil's Tower.

NOTE: I've not completed this page. I need to add comments to most of the pictures.

Day 1 - Iron Butt ride to Rapid City, South Dakota

I only got three pictures and they're not very interesting. The Iron Butt attempt failed. Roger "Druid" Stephens and I made the attempt but got stuck in Kansas due to rain.

Day 2 - Riding with Gil

We saw Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead, Keystone, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, and Needles Highway.

Day 3 - Devil's Tower in Wyoming

These pictures are of the route to Devil's Tower in Wyoming, the tower and surrounding area, and the route back through Aladdin, Wyoming. I took pictures of the tower at many angles. I walked all the way around it via a one and a half mile trail while in my riding boots. There were a lot of climbers on the tower and a lot a bikers in the parking lot. There weren't many that walked around the tower so I was in peace and quiet most the time. The surrounding forest is very beautiful and the only thing I really wanted was a nice hammock between a couple of the Ponderosa pines. The weather was perfect in every way and I was quite pleased indeed.
